Strawberry Shortcake and Friends
Strawberry Shortcake came about when American Greetings artist, Barbi Sargent drew a character with a strawberry pattern for a Valentine’s card. The character became very popular because of her strawberry details. Art director, Rex Conners requested that Sargent create more of this character to test how consumers would respond to her. There was a very positive response to the character leading to the creation of more characters, merchandise, and storylines.
